Hi! My name is Kendahl and I am starting this blog to purely have fun and share some teaching tips along the way! I teach Family and Consumer Science, which is the politically correct term for Home Economics. However, I think saying Home Ec is easier, so whichever works for me. I currently teach in DFW, TX and I teach 9th through 12th grades. All of my classes are mixed levels and I always have a wide variety of students in each class.

In Family and Consumer Sciences, I can technically teach a lot of different courses. FCS includes cooking and nutrition, education and training, health, interior and fashion design, human development, finance, and leadership courses. Right now I am teaching 3 courses:

  • Principles of Education and Training: a class for students who think they want to be teachers one day

  • Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness: cooking and nutrition 101

  • Human Growth and Development: the study of humans from birth until death

So far in my career, teaching Principles of Education and Training has been my fav. It is so much fun to teach others all about your job and what you get do every single day. Also, students who want to be teachers one day, normally love teachers, which make them the best students. I adore them. This class is what gave me the idea for this blog: teaching about teaching. I have found that I really love sharing my ideas, collaborating, and helping other teachers out. So, I made a blog to share, collaborate, and help! (Also, I think having a blog is cool and I feel very fancy to officially have one!)

Outside of teaching, I enjoy drawing, crafting, working out, camping, and being outdoors. I am an enneagram 2- the helper and my Meyers-Briggs is INFJ- the protector (I love personality tests, btw). I am engaged to my high school sweetheart, Collin, and I have an adorable miniature dachshund named Dobby.

Truly thank you for checking out my blog and reading! I am excited to keep posting and sharing with you and I hope you enjoy and keep coming back!

Warmly,

Kendahl
